Our ATVs

All our rental machines are well-maintained and kept in good shape.  For 2009 our fleet is all 2wd Honda Rancher ATVs.

  • 420cc liquid-cooled, fuel injected 4 stroke engine.
  • electric start
  • digital gear indicator and speedometer
  • 5 speed transmission with reverse
    • automatic clutch, pushbutton shifting on handlebar
  • front and rear racks for carrying gear

These machines are fairly powerful, especially for the tighter and more technical trails in the area.  We recommend keeping them in second gear for the majority of riding on the narrow ATV trails.  Third gear and higher should only be used on a wider, more open, smoother and straighter trail.

The machines do require shifting gears, but with an automatic clutch it is easily learned.  If you have driven a manual transmission car or motorcycle, you will catch on quickly.  Diane hasn’t driven a manual car in ten years, but was comfortable on the ATV within 5 minutes.

To shift gears:

  • As with a manual transmission car, you momentarily let off of the throttle
  • push the up or down shift button with your left thumb
  • ease back onto the throttle
  • Neutral is required to start the engine

Neutral is required to start the engine.
